Privacy policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
Tallyhive is run by Softzee ("we", "us"), based in Pakistan. This policy explains what we collect when you use Tallyhive, why, and what control you have over it. We've tried to keep it short and plain.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, an optional name, and your password. We store the password only as a one-way hash, so nobody (including us) can read it.
- What you enter: expenses, budgets, income, loans, categories, people and saved reports.
- Files you attach: receipts and other photos or PDFs you add to entries. They are stored privately and only opened for you while you are signed in.
- Contact details of other people: if you add a phone number or email for someone on the Loans page, we store it only so the app can open a reminder for you. We never contact them ourselves.
- Usage information: when you sign in and use the app, your IP address, and technical logs such as request times and errors. We use these to keep the service secure and working.
We don't connect to your bank, and we don't collect card numbers or bank account details.
Why we use it
- To run your account and show you your own numbers.
- To send emails you need: confirming your address, resetting your password, and notices about your plan or trial.
- To keep the service safe, for example limiting repeated sign-in attempts and investigating errors.
- To understand overall usage, such as how many people are active. These figures are totals across all users, never one person's spending.
We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see it
Your financial entries are visible only to you, and to people you invite to share a household. Members you invite see that household's entries, budgets and loans, and the name and email of the other members. Each entry records who added it. Removing a member, or a member leaving, ends their access; what they added stays in the household. You can also share a single loan, or the expenses tagged to one person, with one email address. That person sees only what you shared, read only, until you stop sharing. Our administrators can see account details (email, name, plan, sign-up date, last activity and how many entries an account has) to provide support and manage accounts. They do not see the contents of your expenses through the admin tools. Every administrator action is recorded in an audit log.
We use a small number of service providers to run Tallyhive: our web host (Hostinger) stores the data and sends our emails, and the app loads fonts from Google Fonts. Reminders you choose to send open in WhatsApp or your email app, under those services' own terms. They process data only to provide those services.
We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Storage and security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on our host's servers. Passwords are hashed and sign-in attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will tell affected users if a breach puts their data at risk.
The app stores a sign-in token in your browser so you stay signed in. It doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your login, all your entries and your attached files are removed straight away. Copies may remain in server backups for a short period until they are overwritten.
Your choices
- Download your data any time from Profile, Your details, Your data.
- Correct your name and email in Profile, Your details.
- Delete your account and all its data, including attached files, from Profile, Delete account.
Children
Tallyhive is meant for adults managing a household. It isn't intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let you know by email or in the app.
